Edinburgh’s Fishmonger Since 1986 — What Makes Eddie’s Different
Share
Edinburgh has excellent fishmongers. It is one of the things that makes this city such a great place to cook and eat. But for 40 years, one address has been where the city’s most serious food lovers, its Michelin-starred chefs, and its most discerning home cooks have gone first: Eddie’s Seafood Market on Roseneath Street, Marchmont. Here is what has made us different for four decades.
Scotland’s Premier Sashimi Grade Fish Supplier
There is nowhere else in Edinburgh — and very few places in Scotland — where you can reliably buy genuine sashimi grade fish. Eddie’s has been the address for this since the beginning. The standard we apply is the standard Edinburgh’s sushi restaurants and Japanese chefs trust with their reputations.
A Range Unlike Any Other in Edinburgh
Swordfish. Octopus. Shark. Red snapper. Live lobster. Native oysters. Fresh langoustines. We stock species that no other Edinburgh fishmonger carries regularly. If you want to cook something extraordinary, or if a recipe calls for something unusual, the answer is almost always on our counter.
Michelin Standards, Every Day
Since 2020, Eddie’s has been owned and run by Campbell Mickel, a Michelin Bib Gourmand chef and restaurateur. When a Michelin chef runs a fishmonger, the standards in the kitchen become the standards at the counter. Nothing we would not serve in a restaurant ends up in our shop.
40 Years of Edinburgh Trust
Eddie Kwok opened this shop in 1986 and spent 34 years building one of the most trusted food businesses in Edinburgh. That heritage does not disappear — it becomes part of the foundation. The same customers who came in 20 years ago still come in today. Their children come too.
